From the Publisher:

Dear Readers,

Well, we are halfway through the week, and time is flying. Don't you just love this weather? It's almost perfect, except for the Love Bug invasion. We noticed our first one Saturday morning, just before our daughter's 11th birthday party began. Needless to say, we spent the day swatting bugs off everything. Luckily it didn't spoil the kids' fun!

Several Coastal Cleanup events were held this past weekend. According to volunteers, they all went very well, and the coastline is now a lot cleaner than it was. Thanks to all who came out and did their part to make Wakulla County an even nicer place to live and play.

It seemed odd to not attend any Wakulla football games last week! I hope all the players had a good rest, because they are all back in action this week! The varsity War Eagles play Rickards at Gene Cox Stadium in Tallahassee this Friday night, and it should be a good one.

Chris Beatty and family from the Florida Wild Mammal Association would like to thank all the community members and businesses who have stepped up to help them out after their terrible house fire. They are very appreciative of all the help they have received so far. Chris has commented that she and her husband and daughter now have everything they need to get along, and is asking that all future donations be made directly to the FWMA to help the animals. The injured and orphaned animals and birds that were initially relocated after the fire are now being returned to the FWMA, and Chris is worried about where she is going to house them all. Many of them were being kept in the Beatty home before the fire, and now space is limited. So, if you can, please make a donation to help the animals. Check out our FWMA Update article below to see how to donate.

Have a good rest of the week!

Sincerely,

Mary Katherine Westmark
