From the Publisher:

Dear Readers,

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving! We spent the day at my Grandmother's house with local family and aunts, uncles and cousins from South Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. It was quite a crowd, but it was really good to see everyone.

We also spent the weekend putting up the Christmas tree and pulling out all the decorations. I let the kids decorate the tree by themselves this year, and I do believe they succeeded in putting every single last ornament we have on its branches. It's always fun taking the ornaments out each year; you get to relive how and where you acquired them, and I love it when the kids ask "Where did we get this one?", and "Isn't this one mine?". My 11 year old is already picking out which ones she plans to take with her when she moves out.

By the way, the Boy Scouts of Troop 5 are selling trees at Winn-Dixie in Crawfordville, and they really are pretty this year. If you haven't gotten yours yet, go by and check their selection out. They have all shapes and sizes, and free hot chocolate and coffee while you shop!

A couple of things happening this week:

Medart Elementary School is hosting their 1st annual Holiday Festival this Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. They usually hold their festival in the spring, but this year they decided to try something different by moving it to the fall. It should be lots of fun for everyone, and the weather looks like it's going to be great for it. There will be all the usual games (bingo, bouncers, cake walk, go-karts, kiddie games, paint ball, etc.) but this year they've added something really special: SNOW ON THE GROUND! That's right; it's going to be snowing at Medart Elementary!! You don't want to miss it. Also, Medart students are selling raffle tickets along with the festival, so help them out and purchase a few for a good cause. They're only $1 each, and you can win some pretty awesome prizes.

The Friends of Wakulla Springs are hosting a benefit dance at the Wakulla Springs Lodge featuring the popular dance band, The Big Kahunas! They will be playing 60's and 70's music from 8:00 p.m. until 10:30 or so in the lobby at the Springs, so put on your dancing shoes and come out for a really fun evening. Tickets for the dance are $10. Dinner will be available in the lodge restaurant prior to the dance for those who wish to eat, and the lodge is also offering rooms at a special rate for the evening. Check out our link below under Arts and Entertainment for all the details and the number to call for dinner and room reservations.

Well, have a good weekend, and thanks for supporting our site. Because of you all, we've had a fantastic year stats wise, and we really do appreciate your help in getting the word out about us.

Sincerely,

Mary Katherine Westmark
