From the Publisher:
Dear Readers,
What a week! I hate to say it, but I'm glad it's almost over; we were extremely busy for some reason all week long, but I guess that's a good thing!
If you didn't make it over to Panacea for the 34th annual Blue Crab Festival, then you missed a great time! I don't think I've ever seen so many people in Woolley Park before; it was packed! The weather was great, and folks just came out and made a day of it. The entertainment was wonderful, and although we didn't make it back for the fireworks, I heard they were fantastic. Check out our link about the event below under Festivals and Celebrations, and check out our great photo galleries, as well. There are some really nice shots of flying mullet...
This Saturday brings the first annual VolunteerWAKULLA Make a Difference Day to be held at Hudson Park from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event will feature simultaneous community service events, and a free lunch will be served to participants at 12:00 noon in the park. Check out our link below for all the details or visit their site at www.VolunteerWakulla.com .
I received an email from a Wakulla County citizen earlier this week asking about carpooling possibilities, and ways to connect with those who might want to carpool into Tallahassee due to the rising cost of gasoline. We have added a category to our Free Classified Ads called "Carpooling Inquiries", and there is a direct link to the section on the front of the site (look for the Red Car Graphic and click there!). Hopefully residents can use this tool to help find people to carpool with and save a little dinero. It's free!
Also, we have upgraded our online chat forums, which badly needed it, and have added several new sections, including one for Wakulla County moms and also one specifically for the 2008 elections. Please check them out and use them to chat with other Wakulla County residents about issues in the county.
Have a great weekend, be safe, and come VolunteerWAKULLA (www.volunteerwakulla.com)!
Sincerely,
Mary Katherine Westmark
