Dear Readers,
Hope you all had a great weekend, rain and all! I don't want to jinx it, but we are almost at the end of the first two months of the 2007 Hurricane Season, and so far so good! I hope our luck will hold out until November.
The Wakulla County Senior Center will hold their "Christmas in July" benefit luncheon today at 12:00 p.m. Plan to attend if you can; all proceeds will go towards providing much needed services at the center.
Heidi and Eddie Metcalf, residents at Shell Point, witnessed a tornado over the Live Oak Island area yesterday afternoon at around 4:30 p.m. At this point we don't know if any damage was sustained anywhere, or if it actually touched down on land. Heidi sent pictures our way, and they are pretty amazing to see. Check out our link below to see them for yourself.
The Sopchoppy Opry will be celebrating their 7th Anniversary this Saturday night at historic Sopchoppy Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. It's hard to believe the Opry has been in existence that long! Jesse Quigg does a wonderful job of keeping the community informed on who is performing each month, and the shows are getting better and better all the time. As Jesse says, it's just the "best place to be the last Saturday night of the month", so if you've never been, make this your debut trip! This month's guests are the Messer Brothers, Lisa Watson, Jimmy Wells, and Joel and Judy Harrison.
There are still a couple of vacation bible schools going on in the county; BOOT Camp at New Life Ministries and "Take the Plunge" at Medart Assembly of God. They both started yesterday, but it's probably not too late to join in. Check out the links below for all the times, etc. for each VBS.
The Wakulla County 12U Allstars won the semi-final game at the Cal Ripken Southeast Regional Tournament in Alabama yesterday, and will now face the East North Carolina Sandhills in the Championship game. If they win, they will go on to represent the Southeast in the Cal Ripken World Series in Van Buren, Arkansas on August 7th. These home boys boys have worked hard and played exceptionally well to get where they are, and are to be congratulated on their achievements. Go team go!
