Dear Readers,
Only five more days to take advantage of the Tax Free Holiday! We took advantage of the break this past weekend, and the stores weren't as crowded as I thought they would be. Tax free days will continue until midnight on Monday, August 13, so if you haven't done your back-to-school shopping yet, there's still time to save a little money.
Speaking of back-to-school, be sure to check out our School News section below for info on open house dates, school bus routes, school hours of operation, and school supply list information.
The Wakulla 12u Allstars will begin World Series play tomorrow morning at 9:00 p.m. EST. All the games will be broadcast on Wave 94, or WAKU 94.1FM by station manager Doug Apple. The dates and times are included in our link below. The team and coaches would like to thank all who came out to their fish fry fundraiser this past Saturday evening. Thanks to the generosity of our community, they were able to raise the funds needed to make the trip to Arkansas this week. GO ALLSTARS!
Habitat for Humanity will host their annual Gourmet Dinner Benefit this Saturday, August 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wakulla County Senior Center. The theme is "Summer Splash", and the dress is casual. Check out our link below for information on purchasing tickets. Proceeds from the dinner will help build a home for a needy family right here in Wakulla County.
The Wakulla County Coalition for Youth will host a Family Night Out this Friday evening, August 10, at Crawfordville First Baptist Church. The free event is aimed towards incoming 6th graders and their parents to help make the transition to middle school a little easier. Guest speakers include WMS Principal JoAnn Daniels, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Beth O'Donnell, and Dr. Lonnie Carton, nationally recognized family therapist. Dinner will be served. ERA Community Reality and the Muscular Dystrophy Association will host the 2nd Annual "Stride and Ride" ( www.strideandride.info )in both Wakulla and Leon counties this coming Saturday morning, August 11. There will be a Fun Walk at Azalea Park beginning at 10:00 a.m. Click on our link below to find out how you can participate.
Come out to Hudson Park in Crawfordville and enjoy a fish fry lunch this Friday, August 10th, sponsored by the Wakulla High Band Boosters. Delivery to local offices and businesses will also be available. Proceeds will help the band buy new uniforms and participate in upcoming activities.
