Wakulla Children's Fishing Tournament

The plans for this year's Wakulla Children's Fishing Tournament are almost complete. I would like to invite you and your children to join me and numerous volunteers for the 6th annual tournament, to be held on Saturday, June 4, 2005 in Panacea, Florida, at Wooley Park (Home of the Blue Crab Festival). Last year we had over 400 children participate and this year we expect to surpass this total.

This event is free for all children (15 years of age or younger). All children signing up for this event will receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag. At registration (on the day of the event) children will be provided with a wristband. This wristband will entitle them to a free lunch and will allow them to ride the carnival rides during the weigh-in. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. The categories are:

Saltwater

white trout
redfish
speckled trout
flounder
Spanish mackeral

Fresh Water

bass
panfish
catfish

Sorry, no sharks, rays or hard-head catfish!

Weigh-in begins at 12:00 noon and will continue until 2:30 p.m.

Entry forms can be picked up at Crum's Mini Mall in Panacea and at Circle J's Bait and Tackle in Medart (next to the Wakulla County Public Library). Children may fish from the boats we provide or choose to fish anywhere in the county. This year's boats are being provided by the Wakulla Fisherman's Association and other volunteer's boats. Life vests will be provided. If your child plans to fish from a boat, they must be brought to Panacea Harbor Marina by 7:00 a.m. and picked up by 12:00 noon. If your child is under the age of 8, he or she must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Entertainment will be provided throughout the day by local teen band RadioActiveMaterial (RAM).
