Underwater Cleanup a Success; September 15 Reminder!
{sidebar id=3}We had a great underwater cleanup this past Sunday, September 9. Les Marshall, of Goin' Under Dive Services, organized our underwater cleanup. Sunday was a great day.
Les's underwater cleanup became a surface cleanup.
People in kayaks, canoes and motorboats became river cleanup volunteers. Jackie at TnT Hideaway challenged her customers to pick up trash and let them know that everything they collected would be weighed. For each pound, she is giving Keep Wakulla County Beautiful $1.00. Her people found 82 pounds of trash floating on the river!
Les's divers included: Jeremy Zinser, Sharon Ashburn, Louis LaMarche and J.E. Sutton. They pulled up just under 1,000 pounds of trash which included bottles, cans, a bedframe, nails, a pocket knife and a fossilized alligator tooth!
We accomplished a lot, and boaters were very appreciative.
Don't forget to bring your families to the Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 15th!
