Friends of Wakulla Springs State Park to Host Dec. 19 Road Cleanup

As part of Keep Wakulla County Beautiful, the Friends of Wakulla Springs State Park have adopted a portion on CR 61, from FL 267 to Shadeville Highway, and are required to conduct quarterly road cleanups. The next Friends Road Cleanup will be Saturday, December 19. Please join your “Friends” to help beautify your adopted portion of CR 61.

We are now separating recyclables from the trash. The aluminum cans will be donated to the Animal Shelter (Leah Bowman’s suggestion). At the landfill, the plastic and glass will be recycled and the remaining trash will be disposed of properly.

We need at least 12 volunteers to cleanup the entire section of road, and we often do not have enough folk. Please consider joining your “Friends” for this worthwhile project to keep Wakulla County beautiful. Litter is unsightly, but the main reason to pickup trash is that it hurts wildlife

Please meet at the side gate (“C” on the attached map) at 9am. Wear good walking shoes and bring work gloves, if you have them, and a water bottle. Please let me know if you plan to attend. I look forward to seeing you on December 19.
