{sidebar id=1}Good tides this weekend and hopefully lighter winds than we've had the past couple of days, should make for some good fishing. If you're an off shore fisherman your boat probably hasn't been used much in the past month.
Trout fishing continues to be pretty good and a lot of trout are being caught out in 10 to 12 feet of water. The area south of the number two stake, which is almost due south of Gray Mare Rock, is holding trout. Fish a grub on the bottom real slow or free line a live shrimp. Some trout were caught at the mouth of East River over the weekend and look for trout around Graymare and Cobb Rocks. The creeks and oyster bars East of the Lighthouse are holding plenty of reds. Live shrimp, gold spoons or live pinfish should all work. Look for trout on the West Flats out in 5 to 6 feet of water near the
stake line.
Trout fishing around Piney Island has slowed down and I haven't seen the Spanish around like they were. The water temperature has dropped to the low 70's and that has possibly moved the bait and fish. With the much needed rains we're having the salinity will probably start dropping and I believe our fishng will get better on the flats in the days to come.
Over around Lanark Village trout are still being caught on Turkey Point Reef using the Berkley Gulp under a Cajun Thunder. The spotted
bottom on Dog Island Reef is also producing some nice catches of trout. Plenty of reds are still around the docks and plenty of reds are being caught on the Gulf side of the Island and on the Bay side.
Some Spanish are still around and quite a few pompano were caught last week around Dog Island.
If the weather is decent there are plenty of grouper and snapper to be caught offshore. The only report I heard of last week was from 75 to 90 feet but they caught plenty of grouper, snapper and amberjack. Live bait and dead bait was used.
Don't forget the Big Bend Saltwater Classic fishing tournament in Carrabelle over Father's Day Weekend.
Good luck and good fishing!
