Captain Jody Campbell Fishing Report
November 25, 2007
Fishing has been pretty fantastic. Grouper fishing is the first thing I will talk about and everyone is going say it is the best they have seen in a long, long time. Twenty to forty feet is all you have to go and trolling with Stretch 25's or 30's or the Rapala Jaw Breakers are working extremely well. The chartreuse/blue is a good color. Bottom fishing is also good for grouper. Live or dead bait works well. Most of the fish being caught are gag grouper and you'll need to go a little deeper for red grouper. Some cobia are still around and plenty of kings are being caught.
Inshore is about as good. Plenty of trout are still on the flats as well as in the creeks. The water is extremely clear on the flats and the trout seem to be in 4 to 5 feet of water. The Gulp under the Cajun Thunder is working very well and white or new penny seem to be the best colors. There are quite a few small blues on the flats and I even caught a Spanish on Monday.
The mouth of the Ochlockonee is producing plenty of trout and reds and the deep hole off the old Tradewinds dock is producing silver trout. The hole at the beginning of the Panacea channel is also good for silver trout. Use small pieces of cut bait, Gulp or small shrimp on the bottom. Plenty of trout are being caught around Lanark and I would start fishing towards the river. Ballast Cove is also producing some nice catches of trout. Reds are being caught everywhere. Up in the creeks and rivers and along the shoreline on the high water. Live bait, gold spoons and Bita Baits and Rattlin Redfins work very well.
Hopefully the weather will be nice this weekend and the rain we had won't hurt anything. Good luck and good fishing!
