{sidebar id=1}There are still plenty of fish out there to be caught but make sure you take plenty of water cause it's sure been hot. Looks like it will cool down to the low 90's this week so that will help.
Quite a few reds have been caught from Stoney Bayou down to the Aucilla this weekend using a lure called Bite A Bait. Look for trout around Gray Mare and Cobb Rocks and use the Cajun Thunder with a Gulp or just a Gulp. If you don't find them there start working your way out to deeper water, as much as 12 to 15 feet.
There are lots of trout around the Piney Island area but most are rather small. There are plenty of big fish but the bite is few and far between. Again the Gulp in New Penny or Pearl White works best under the Cajun Thunder. Look for reds around the oyster bars in Oyster Bay. Dog Island Reef
is producing some nice trout if you can get down past the ladyfish and blues. There are also some nice Spanish still being caught over in that area.
The cove east of the Marine Lab is holding some nice trout also along with reds. The reds have also moved back around the docks. Use gold spoons or live pilchards. Plenty of red grouper are being caught in 60 to 80 feet of water but the gags seems to be shallower or much deeper. Red snapper continue to be caught and some big cobia are being caught around the towers. Look for amberjack around the wrecks and artificial reefs. Tarpon are still around but most of the out of town guides have headed back home.
Mike Hopkins said folks are getting scallops at Lanark but not saying where. He thinks it's around the southwest edge of Turkey Point Shoals in 5 to 7 feet of water. St. Marks continues to having a banner year and they are west of Black Rock all the way to Cobb Rocks.
Remember to leave that float plan with someone and watch out for the other boaters. Believe me there are plenty of people out there right now that have no idea of what the rules of the road are on the water. If you see someone driving a boat drunk or just acting stupid go to channel 16 and hail
the FWC.
Good luck and good fishing!
