Wakulla Middle School 6th Grader Connor Keith is Regional Spelling Bee Winner
Connor Keith, a 6th grader at Wakulla Middle School and one of the youngest contestants, beat out 11 other contestants from
across the Big Bend to win the 2010 Regional Spelling Bee, sponsored by the
Tallahassee Democrat. She will go to Washington, DC in June to
represent the region in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Connor began her journey on January 8, 2010 when she won the 34th Annual Wakulla District Spelling Bee, held at Riversink Elementary School. Competing against students in grades 4th through 8th, she was declared the winner in Round 14.
She went on to compete in the Big Bend Regional Spelling Bee which was held February 13, 2010 at the WFSU-TV studio. In Round 13 she spelled “piazza” correctly. Runner-up, Logan McCord, a 6th grader at Grand Ridge Middle representing Jackson County, misspelled "musicale."
Connor is the daughter of Kristi (a teacher at Wakulla High School) and Jonathon Keith.
