Wakulla Democratic Women's Club Celebrates New Charter with Full Calendar

Crawfordville, Florida -- Members of the Wakulla Democratic Women’s Club have not had much time to work on their tans this summer.
During the hot summer months, club members wrote by-laws and applied for a club charter, honored a Golden Democrat, hosted a political candidate, and worked to educate voters in preparation for the 2010 election cycle.On July 8, club members elected an executive board, heard Capital City Democratic Women’s Club President Shirley Thompson speak on Fair Districts, and hosted state Senate District 7 candidate David Pleat (pictured below right). The 2010-2011 Wakulla Democratic Executive Board Members are:
President: Rachel Sutz Pienta, PhD1st Vice President and Treasurer: Verna Brock
2nd Vice President and Secretary: Joan Hendrix
Chaplain: Pastor Derek Howard
On July 24th, Club President Rachel Pienta accepted the club’s new charter at the state board meeting of Democrat Women’s Club of Florida, Inc., in Ocala (pictured above left; Capital City Democratic Women’s Club President Shirley Thompson, State President Janet Goen, Club President Rachel Pienta and Region I Chair Mildred Hall). On August 5th, club members attended the Capital City Democratic Women’s Club Golden Democratic Luncheon to honor one of their own – club member Mrs. Ruth High, who was honored as a Golden Democrat during the event at the FSU Turnbull Center.
