Wakulla County Health Department Announces New Administrator

The Florida Department of Health (DOH) today announced the appointment of Padraic Juarez as administrator of the Wakulla County Health Department, effective Tuesday, January 09, 2012.
“Mr. Juarez is a great advocate for public health and combines the experience earned from his long career in health with his determination to provide the very best for his community,” said State Surgeon General Dr. Frank Farmer. “His consistent commitment to professional growth and his intimate knowledge of public health issues make him a great asset to the community and the Florida Department of Health.”
Padraic Juarez has more than 25 years of experience working in public health programs, including five years of public health work in Wakulla as the Environmental Administrator and interim Administrator of the Health Department. He has worked at all levels here at the Health Department from the rural office to the program administrator for several statewide programs. He has worked in health in both Florida and in California.
“I am honored to accept this opportunity to serve the people of Wakulla County,” said Mr. Juarez. “I am looking forward to working with the staff of the Wakulla County Health Department, our Board of County Commissioners and our many community partners in fulfilling our mission to protect and promote the health of all residents and visitors.”
Padraic Juarez holds a bachelors of science in Biology from Colorado State University, a master’s of science degree in Executive Management from Florida State University and is a graduate of the Certified Public Manager program.
The Wakulla County Health Department promotes and protects the health and safety of all residents and visitors of Wakulla County by preventing epidemics and the spread of disease, protecting against environmental hazards, preventing injuries, promoting and encouraging healthy behaviors, responding to disasters and assisting the community in recovery efforts.
