Wakulla County Baseball Team Saved in Horrific Crash
John and Maria Lentz were driving their son Nick to a baseball game in Georgia this past Saturday, September 8, 2007 when they were involved in a two car accident. Frank Bailey, the other driver, t-boned Lentz's SUV, causing it to flip three times as it rolled down a hill, finally coming to a stop in a ditch.
According to John Lentz, the whole incident was "surreal" and seemed to last a lot longer than it actually was. No serious injuries were sustained and Lentz said he thanks God that they are all alright. Lentz was the lead car in a caravan of other vehicles, all carrying members of the Wakulla County Diamond Dogs baseball team. Most of the kids on the team are just 10 years old.
Darrin McGlamry, who was in one of the other cars in the group, said it scared them all "to death", and added that he had never actually seen a live accident such as this one.
The Georgia troopers on the scene credit seatbelts for keeping the injuries from being more severe. Frank Bailey will be charged with failing to yield for running a stop sign.
The family went on to the game after the accident; NIck Lentz said he still planned to play that afternoon. The Lentz family and the rest of the Diamond Dogs baseball team would like to thank everyone for their prayers.
