September 18 Update on Beatty Family House Fire; Help Needed with Deer Pen

September 18 Update on Beatty Family House Fire

baby fox smaller 125.gifThe family of Chris, Mike and Jessica Beatty lost their home and all its contents to a fire on Wednesday, September 5, 2007.  Chris Beatty is the director of the Florida Wild Mammal Association orphaned and injured wildlife sanctuary.  Community members are coming together to help the family out in their time of need, and the Beattys are very appreciative.

According to Florida Wild Mammal Association Volunteer Gigi Cavallaro, the family has requested that from this point forward all those who wish to donate please direct their donations to the animals in the Florida Wild Mammal Association fund.  "Chris said the family has all they need at this time," said Cavallaro, "and she wants the community to know how much she appreciates all they have done for them.  However, the animals are still very much in need of help, especially the deer who are still running wild.  She is asking that all future donations please go towards the animals, not fhe family."

Volunteers are welcome to come out this Saturday, September 22 to help with building the deer pen.  The supplies are there; now some strong backs are needed to help put the pen together.  If you are interested in helping, just show up in your work clothes.  For directions on how to get there, call 962-6117 or 445-4206.

If you wish to make a donation to the Florida Wild Mammal Association for the care of the animals, you can do so in several ways.  There is currently a benefit account set up at Capital City Bank in Crawfordville for the animals of the FWMA, and donations can be made there at the bank.  You can also send a donation to:

Florida Wild Mammal Association
198 Edgar Poole Road
Crawfordville, FL  32327

or you can click on the "Help the FWMA" donate button in the top left corner of the Wakulla.com website and follow the PayPal instructions.
