Regional Spelling Bee Will Be Televised Several Times in March

Watch Wakulla County Student
take on the Tough Words 
for Regional Spelling Bee Telecast

Wakulla County can watch as their own Trevor Waters takes on other champion spellers of the area in the 2006 Tallahassee Democrat Big Bend Regional Spelling Bee.  Waters 13 years old and is in the 7th grade at Riversprings Middle School. Trevor is an honor roll student and enjoys playing video games and baseball.

Waters represented Wakulla County against the reigning champion spellers from 10 other counties in the Big Bend area in the competition on Saturday February 25th at WFSU-TV studios.  He sailed through the first 6 rounds, confidently spelling the words:  hundredth, mesa, hydrate, snooker, exterminate, plague.  In the 7th round, he misspelled the word “repetition.”  During that same round, 5 other students were knocked out of the competition leaving Sneads High School eighth-grader Ryan Pilcher the winner.

Pilcher will go on to participate in the Scripts-Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. from May 31st to June 1st.  Until then, you can see the telecast of the Regional Spelling Bee multiple times on 4fsu (Comcast Channel 4 in Gadsden, Leon and Wakulla Counties).

Tuesday, March 7th at 6pm EST
Friday, March 10th at 7:30pm EST
Tuesday, March 14th at 7pm EST

Monday, March 20th at 7pm EST
Saturday, March 25th at 6:30pm EST
Thursday, March 30th at 7pm EST
