The following is a photo gallery of the existing Shell Point Resort at Shell Point Beach, Florida taken by local Shell Point resident Alan Lamarche in April 2005.  Soon these images will just be a memory for Shell Point residents and all of Wakulla County as the Naumann Group is planning a massive redesign of the property.  While this is a very exciting proposition, it is also bittersweet for those of us who remember Shell Point as it used to be during the 70's and 80's.

Do you remember when the Hennessy's ran the restaurant?  Or maybe you remember when Genevieve Oaks was in charge, with various family members helping out at different times during her tenure.  A lot of great meals and fun times were had sitting at those tables, looking out at the water.  There was a small town feel to the area; everybody knew everybody.  Many a local Shell Point teen spent their weekends bussing or waiting tables at the restaurant to earn a little extra spending money.  I personally remember staying at the old hotel during "Stephen C. Smith Regatta" weekends and various other windsurfing events that were held at the beach during the 80's.

How about all you members of the now defunct "Liar's Club" who used to meet each morning for coffee at the old Marina Store when George Taff, Jr. was running it?  Good times, good times.
