Leon County Sheriff's Office Reports Progress in Dunlap Investigation
{sidebar id=1}Tallahassee- Sheriff Larry Campbell announced the trip to North Georgia by detectives and special agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement were both informative and productive.
Campbell said “information and details of the crimes from three states were shared and discussed by officials at the meeting”.
Officials shared information that covered over 500 pieces of evidence. This evidence encompassed items seized from crime scenes in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. These items ranged from photographic evidence to microscopic samples. Several items of evidence were transported to the FDLE’s Crime Lab for processing.
Campbell said “at this time we are unable to discuss the nature of these items, but hope in the near future we will be able to release details. FDLE and GBI labs are working around the clock to process and link together this wealth of evidence”.
Campbell added “just as Mr. Meggs has publicly stated, Gary Hilton is in custody and does not pose a threat to public safety. This allows us to work methodically and systematically through this investigation to present the best case possible for trial”.
