Guests Rocked Around the Clock at the WPBWA's Fall Fling 

The Professional and Business Women’s Association’s annual Fall Fling, held on the evening of Friday, November 10, was a huge success!  The Senior Center was filled to capacity with people who wanted to take a stroll “Back to the Fifties.”

And stroll they did to the great rock and roll music of the times.  Even Elvis made an appearance.  Larry Strickland brought the house down with his renditions of the Elvis favorites…complete with an Elvis rhinestone suit and scarf.  (Some lucky woman got to take the scarf home!)

Our thanks to everyone that came and joined in the fun, participated in our Silent Auction, or contributed in any way to our scholarship fundraiser.  Tuition and books for higher education continue to escalate.  Last year three high school seniors and two adult learners were recipients of WPBWA scholarship funds.  The application process will be advertised in early spring to select recipients for this year’s awards.

And our special thanks to Joyce Jordan, the artist who donated a print of “Mama’s Garden” to raffle away.  There were over a thousand raffle tickets sold for this beautiful print.  As only fitting, Joyce, who came for the fun, drew the winning ticket!

WPBWA meets the third Wednesday of each month at the Wakulla War Eagle Café, at Wakulla High.  Our New Membership Drive is happening NOW.  If you have an interest in joining our Association, please contact Jackie Lawhon at 962-4611 (City of Sopchoppy).  Come for lunch one Wednesday just by giving Jackie a call to make a reservation.
