Detectives Leave for Georgia in Cheryl Dunlap Case
{sidebar id=1}Leon County Sheriff’s Detectives and Special Agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement left this past Monday morning, January 14, 2008 for North Georgia as part of the Cheryl Dunlap investigation. They will be meeting with their Georgia counterparts as the focus of the investigation turns to Gary Michael Hilton.
Sheriff Larry Campbell said “due to developments in the Georgia murder investigation, there are several agencies from Southern states interested in the case and possible ties to unsolved homicides from their jurisdictions. With this wide spread interest we must be patient and cooperate with the Georgia officials as they continue to work their own investigation”.
Campbell added “with there being such an interest focusing on Hilton, law enforcement agencies must work together to ensure they do not compromise or tarnish the integrity of the individual investigations. We have been in contact with North Georgia officials over the past weekend and they have reached a point in their investigation where they are able to compare information in the cases”.
“We are cautiously optimistic that this trip will prove to be fruitful for our investigation”. Campbell reminded the community “even though Hilton is the prime suspect at this time, we still have numerous leads to investigate and continue to ask for tips and information.
If you have any information regarding Hilton or have seen the black Dodge or wrapped Nissan Titan pickups, you are asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 922-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 574-TIPS.
