Deceased Woman Identified as Cheryl Dunlap
The body located in the National Forest has been positively identified by FDLE via DNA as Cheryl Dunlap. Ms. Dunlap’s family has been notified of these findings. Law Enforcement officers from LCSO, FDLE and WCSO continue working on this case. We are still seeking information from the public as it relates to any sightings of Ms. Dunlap, her vehicle or anything that may be related. Based on investigative results there is a possibility that Ms. Dunlap may not have left her vehicle where it was subsequently located by a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper.
There is evidence that indicates the perpetrator made efforts to delay the identification of Ms. Dunlap’s body, but we must be very cautious to preserve
valuable information that may have evidentiary value, so NO details will be provided at this time.
As a secondary issue to this case, there has been an e-mail circulated throughout the community regarding three separate alleged homicides. Sheriff Larry Campbell said- “This e-mail that has been distributed is a blatant lie that is intended to cause division and panic in our community, as well as discredit LCSO and this investigation. Sheriff Larry Campbell also recommends that all members of our community be aware of their surroundings as it relates to their personal safety”.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 922-3418 or Crime Stoppers at 574-TIPS.
