Crosby Family Loses Home to Fire

burned out roof.gifThe home of Theresa and Rodney Crosby was lost in a fire this past Saturday morning, February 9, 2008.  The first began at 4:00 a.m. at their home off Natural Bridge Road in Woodville.  The incident has been declared a total loss on the home.  The Crosbys escaped the fire, but Rodney suffered smoke and chemical inhalation injuries to his lungs.  A beloved dog and cat were lost in the fire.  Two other cats are still missing, but are believed to have gotten out of the house alive.  Firefighters think the fire may have started in an oven, but are still trying to determine the exact cause.

Rodney and Theresa own their own business, and are unable to work at this time.  If you are interested in helping the family, monetary donations or gift cards (Wal-Mart, local restaurants, Winn-Dixie) would be greatly appreciated at this time.  "Virgin boost mobile" prepaid phone cards would also be appreciated, as this is how the doctors and insurance companies are getting in touch with the family at this time.   Please send any donations or gift cards to:

Leigh Key
50 Sue Lane
Crawfordville, FL  32327

The family is also seeking advice on photo and jewelry restoration.

Also, the insurance company sent Rodney and Theresa a small advance for rent on temporary housing.  If anyone is interested in renting for only 4-6 months until the insurance company gets the case settled, please contact Leigh Key at 926-4511.  They would be able to pay a few months in advance, but they would like to stay close to Wakulla County, or near Wakulla Station, if possible.

The family would like to thank the Leon County Fire Department for doing such a good job, and also the Red Cross for being there at 7:30 a.m. with immediate help for Theresa and Rodney.  They would also like to thank Rotary members Don Henderson and Brian English for putting the word out about the incident at the Rotary Valentine's Festival.
