Cole Wells Has Successful Week at Boys State

Cole Wells Represents American Legion Post #114
at Florida Boys State

Cole Wells was the 2005 American Legion Post #114 Florida Boys State Representative.  While at FSU, he set a Guinness World Record for the world's largest flying disc toss as 585 flying discs were tossed simultaneously.  The event received state and national media attention including a film clip on ESPN's Sports Center.

While attending Boys State, Cole received a four year academic scholarship
to TCC and FSU, which includes the cost of textbooks.  The scholarship is
named in honor of Marine Lance corporal Andrew Aviles who had a scholarship
at FSU but chose to serve his country and was killed in the line of duty.  Cole, a senior at Wakulla HighSchool, also received a certificate of merit as representative for Williamsburg, and the Spirit Award.  The Boys State program instills participants to better serve as citizens and contribute to the civic and political welfare of the community, state and nation.  Previous Boys State participants include past U.S. Presidents, governors and congressmen.

"I learned how to better deliver speeches, how to work with Robert's Rules
of Order and the process of government," said Wells.  "I am grateful for the
experience and opportunity.  Barrie Glover and Palmer Williams were awesome.  They made a positive difference in my life and inspired me to further my college education in government."

Barrie Glover, a Wakulla County resident, has served Boys State for many
years as a chaperone and Williams is Director of the Florida American Legion
Boys State.
