Career Milestone for Master Sergeant Christopher E. Mathis
Master Sergeant Christopher E. Mathis, an 1987 graduate of Wakulla High School, celebrated his 20th year of service with the USAF on Aug 19th, 2008. This summer was a busy time for MSgt Mathis, who completed a 3 year tour of the U.S. Pacific Command Center at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii on May 1st, 2008, where he received the Joint Service Commendation Medal for meritorious service as NCOIC, Emergency Actions Watch Team, Nuclear Operations and Communications Branch supporting missions in the Pacific area of operations.
Sgt Mathis assumed duties as Superintendent, 22 Aerial Refueling Wing Command Post, McConnell AFB, KS on August 1st. This marks the second tour of duty for MSgt Mathis at McConnell AFB, who served here between 2001 to 2005. He oversees a vital Command & Control node supporting both Global War on Terrorism and Homeland Defense missions with the KC-135R tanker aircraft.
Mathis is currently married to Tiffany Mathis of Wichita, KS, and together they have 5 children; Spencer, 16, Jacky, 15, Lauren, 15, Jay, 13, and George, 11. He is the son of Vera Wirick of Crawfordville, and Eric Mathis of Panama City. He is the grandson of the late W.S. Mathis and Fran Mathis of Crawfordville, and Etta Mae Pelt of Crawfordville.
