Wakulla County Commissioners Name March 17th as "Wakulla County Green Day"

March 17th Proclaimed "Wakulla County Green Day" by County Commission

The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to proclaim March 17th as "Wakulla County Green Day" in recognition of the Big Bend Green Living & Energy Expo being sponsored by the University of Florida IFAS and Wakulla County Extension Office.  Registration for the event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and workshops and activities will continue throughout the day until 5:00 p.m.  Commissioner Ed Brimner read an official resolution pertaining to the naming of the day, and commended event organizer Michelle Adamski for the wonderful job she has done in putting the event together.  "This is a very positive thing Michelle has done for our county," said Brimner.  "She is to be commended for all her hard work."

Adamski noted that a lot of time and energy had gone into planning and scheduling the expo.  "I would encourage you all to attend," said Adamski.  "Members of the community have really come forward and put in countless hours of volunteer time to help me put this together."  Adamski noted that the free event will include workshops, children's activities, and a hybrid vehicle display.  "We will also have a light bulb exchange," added Adamski.  "Residents can exchange a regular light bulb for a flourescent light bulb which lasts 3 to 5 times longer."

Commissioner Brimner made a motion to approve the resolution, with a second by Commissioner Howard Kessler.
