VolunteerWAKULLA to Hold a Volunteer Fair and Cookie Bake-Off

gingerbread man cookie 100.gifVolunteerWAKULLA will hold a Volunteer Fair and Cookie Bake-Off on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 10:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. at the Wakulla County Extension Office, 84 Cedar Ave.

VolunteerWAKULLA is a new organization that facilitates the coordination and leveraging of individual volunteerism efforts toward achieving top civic priorities across our community.  At the same time, participants find the shared volunteer experience personally valuable and meaningful through the work performed and relationships gained.  VolunteerWAKULLA was established to connect community group needs with volunteers’ interests and would like to make it easy for every citizen to volunteer.  VolunteerWAKULLA hopes to grow into the one-stop-shop to connect interested volunteers with the perfect creative volunteer opportunity.

{sidebar id=1}County Administrator Benjamin H. Pingree expressed his ongoing support of this new initiative, stating “VolunteerWAKULLA is another example of an excellent community partnership between government and caring citizens to better our shared quality of life.  Born from grass-roots compassion, this volunteer-based initiative brings our community closer together through its work.  It has been a privilege to be a part of VolunteerWAKULLA’s creation and emerging success.”

The Volunteer Fair is geared up for students and parents to obtain information on local camps, activities and opportunities to get involved in for school requirements or scholarship applications, and for citizens to learn about unique volunteer opportunities in Wakulla County.  Local organizations who need volunteers are lining up to participate in the event.  The cookie bake-off will sweeten the event and add an element of flavor and fun.

Please join VolunteerWAKULLA on September 6, 2008 from 10:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. at the Wakulla County Extension Office.  For more information on this event, please go to www.volunteerwakulla.org or call Jo Barksdale at (850) 509-7063.
