Budget Cuts will Reduce WCSO Level of Service
Written by Sheriff David F. Harvey, Wakulla County Monday, 20 September 2010 13:09
Dear Friends of Law Enforcement:We are asking that all our friends attend the Wakulla County Commission meeting tonight at 5 p.m. to speak in favor of leaving the sheriff’s office budget at the same level as last year. Commissioners are proposing deep budget cuts that will result in the loss of 10 to 13 deputies.
The potential millage rate of 8.25 will cut deeply into the services we provide and the tentatively adopted rate of 8.75 mills will allow us to maintain our services at the current level. The increase on your tax bill would be less than $5 per month or the price of a fast food meal.
Safety is our number one responsibility to the people of Wakulla County and the top concern on people’s minds. A reduction in the sheriff’s office budget will result in a reduction of services and safety in the county. People move to Wakulla County for the outstanding schools, for the quality of life and safe community and low crime rate our law enforcement provides.
I want to thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sheriff David F. Harvey
