Wakulla Citizens Attend Tallahassee Tax Day Tea Party

Wakulla Citizens Attend Tallahassee Tea Party

Many Wakulla citizens attended the Tax Day Tea Party held at the old capitol steps in downtown Tallahassee on April 15, 2009.  Over 1,000 people attended overall.  The attendees were a coalition of individuals and groups from around the Tallahassee area that oppose the recent trend of fiscal irresponsibility in government at the local, state, and federal levels.

Tea Party organizers state that:

{sidebar id=3}"This wasn't a conservative or liberal thing.  This was about voicing our concern over government forking over billions (and trillions!) of dollars to businesses that should have failed.  Most attendees expressed concern  that we are bankrupting our nation and passing on generational debt.  If we don't stand up for our rights and our liberties today, future generations will ask us:  what did you do when freedom was at stake?"

This was a very well attended event.  It very much could be the start of many citizens awakening and getting involved politically at the grass roots level.  One thing this event proved for sure is that you are definitely not alone in your conservative beliefs.  The Tea Party coalition has stated that they will remain in place and stay involved in organizing.  Stay tuned!
