Funding for FWMA Should be Sought from Private Sector
To FWMA - RE: Mr. Messer's Letter
While Mr Messer's etiquette is quite poor, funding for your efforts should be sought privately. I would be willing to contribute to your cause as I am sure other Wakulla residents would be willing to do so as well. May I suggest instead of seeking help from local government, perhaps a stronger public awareness and request for help from residents and/or other private agencies? Also, you may wish to seek help from private merchants to display a donation jar on their retail counter or set up a special bank account and to run ads seeking donations.
Sometimes folks do not come across in email, a blog or in a posted message such as the one in this publication. Certainly Mr Messer could of better thought out his response, but I'm sure it wasn't his intent to sound so rude.
FWMA - Please keep us updated, your efforts are much appreciated, animals are God's creation, too. Do you have an address set up for donations? I ask others to please donate to this worthy cause as well.

To the people of Wakulla, (young and older). I invite you to visit FWMA. I teach at Wakulla High School and MANY, MANY students have been volunteers at FWMA. They learn concepts there that we can not teach in our schools. I believe, teaching environmental awareness has to start with young children. They don't have the money to give as we do, but they have a compassionate manner that THEY give to all the animals. Hope everyone helps out this year. Thank you, M.D.Litchfield
While I realize that some people in the area think funding for FWMA should be sought privately, they are not seeing the whole picture! FWMA took in over 1,200 animals last year - all brought to the center by Wakulla residents who paid nothing to bring the injured, ill and orphaned animal to FWMA! FWMA has had many generous supporters in the community who have donated money this year. It has been a difficult economic year for many. FWMA needs food, medication, and specific caging for the injured animals and Wakulla county needs to help support this organization. FWMA is asking for only a portion of their budget to be funded by Wakulla County - they will continue to have yard sales, silent auctions, fundraisers, and requests to the private community. They continue to seek grants to help bring in money. They do a job that will now be left to Animal Control. Wakulla County is a beautiful County full of nature and we should do all we can to preserve the eagles, deer, otter and the many other animals we are privileged to have here.
Hi Michael! Thanks for your submission to Wakulla.com . All you have to do to donate to FWMA is visit their website at http://www.wakullawildlife.org . The directions for donating either electronically or through the postal mail are there on the site, as well as anything else you would like to know about the organization.
Thanks again for your letter.
