Don't Steal Our Water

Duck for cover, get ready to re-drill your wells, and forget about having a peaceful neighborhood because the eighteen wheel water tankers are coming soon -- that is, if County Commission candidate Alan Brock gets elected to the County Commission and continues his way of thinking.

Based on a letter he wrote for the March 1, 2007 edition of the Wakulla News, he went to great lengths commending the High's for their efforts to "build the most environmentally friendly water bottling plant known."  This was after the Planning and Zoning Commission overwhelmingly had the wisdom to turn down such an ill-fated project, and the High's pulled their water heist request, knowing that the County Commission was about to follow suit.  In his letter, he went on and on about the virtues of the High's great water caper and sending our water to parts unknown.

Then, he went on and on about the ill-informed, misguided, and shameful "vocal minority" (his words) who dared to oppose such an outstanding idea.  As one of the so-called vocal minority, I think we knew quite well what was going on:  yet another group of individuals trying to hit the jackpot and ruin the county.  Rumble, rumble, rumble.  I hear those trucks comin', they're comin' down the road (to borrow loosely from Johnny Cash)--if Alan Brock gets elected.

WHERE'S ALAN BROCK'S RESPONSE TO MR. MURRELL?
written by hughtaylor , August 23, 2008

smilies/grin.gifivisive politics are what is hurting Wakulla County.”

Alan Brock wrote the above. About criticism of his policies. First, I would disagree. Elitist, exclusive and self-serving policies are hurting Wakulla County. That's what the water bottling was about and that's what a lot of local policies are about. That said, if anyone disagrees with Alan Brock, Alan Brock thinks it’s divisive? Not a way to campaign, m’boy. Or govern as a county commissioner. There are a number of people concerned with your full coffers, how they’re being filled, the positions you hold when you do, and running for cover and your lack of positions otherwise.

Talking about a position is not having a position. But you sure talked about water bottling.

And when citizens speak to this they’re “divisive?” Agree with me or “I’ll hold my breath until I turn blue?” Pretty immature, that. Was David Murrell right when he wrote, ”Then, he (Brock) went on and on about “the ill-informed, misguided, and shameful ‘vocal minority’”? We’ve had this before—in the water bottling battle as a matter of fact. Allison Defoor, a Republican politician of note, called bottling opponents “fellow travelers.” Both comments are pretty uncivil, divisive, and immature. Is that what you politicians do?

Let's keep our water at home and Alan Brock away from making the decision.
