Annual St. Marks Stone Crab Festival to be Held October 24
The 2009 St. Marks Stone Crab Festival will be held Saturday, October 24! This wonderful event will be held on the main street (Port Leon Drive) of St. Marks, Florida from
10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. St. Marks is located just 20 miles south of
Tallahassee, Florida at the end of Hwy. 363, which dead-ends in the
center of St. Marks at the beautiful St. Marks River.
The main purpose of the festival is to have an exciting event that the entire surrounding area can enjoy. Plus, to introduce them to one of the best delicacies this area has to offer (tastes as good as lobster). We will have live entertainment performing all day on the Florida Lottery Showvan, children's activities — very much a family event, all types of seafood will be served, as well as hot dogs, hamburgers, homemade snack foods, and stone crabs, of course! There will also be arts and crafts vendors, horse demonstrations by the Wakulla County Horseman's Association, tours of the city, and more.
We invite one and all to this annual event to celebrate the harvesting of
one of our delicious delicacies from the sea: “The Stone Crab”.
For information about hosting a vendor booth, please contact Mickey Cantner at (850)925-7854.

Event Origin
Several members of the community decided to come together to help make the Annual St. Marks Stone Crab Festival one of the area's premier events. Over the past 12 years
the local restaurants — plus more recently, the St. Marks Volunteer
Fire Department — worked to celebrate the opening of stone crab season.
This year the season opens October 15th. With approximately 20 of our
community citizens working together with local restaurants and the St.
Marks Volunteer Fire Department, we decided to form a non-profit
committee (St. Marks Stone Crab Committee) to help fund the St. Marks
Volunteer Fire Department and St. Marks Waterfronts Florida Partnership
(St. Marks was designated by the state as a community in need of
restoration after the flood from Dennis).
We plan to make the Annual St. Marks Stone Crab Festival an event you will want to come back to year after year!
