Mighty Mullet Maritime Festival to Feature Cook-Off, Flea Market
The second annual Mighty Mullet Maritime Festival, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday November 10 at Woolley Park in Panacea, will feature both an international mullet cook-off contest and a day long maritime flea market. Organizers are asking that flea market items be marine-related, such as boats, boating equipment, fishing equipment. etc.
Over $2000 in prize money will be awarded to the winners of the cook-off, in categories of Appetizer, First Course, and Main Course. There will also be "Mighty Mullet Awards" given for the two best decorated cooking areas. Choose your team and register, because entries are limited. The fee per dish is $25.
Other planned features include music, coronation of the festival king and queen, a “fishy” fashion show, maritime reenactors and storytellers, maritime exhibits, classic boats, food and craft vendors, and the drawing for a $20,000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle to benefit Citizens for Humane Animal Treatment.
Proceeds from the festival itself will benefit the Big Bend Maritime Center which has a Mini Museum in Panacea and is planning a permanent facility there to celebrate the region’s cultural heritage.
Woolley Park fronts Dickerson Bay in Panacea just two blocks east of Coastal Highway 98. For more information about the festival and cook-off contest rules, visit www.mightymullet.com , or call Bill Lowrie before 6:00 p.m. at 850-962-4138.

Question for the Panacea Mighty Mullet Festival team hosting the maritime flea market event - is this event like a big yardsale with all kinds of items for sale? Can anybody place items for sale in the flea market?
