TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—WORKFORCE plus, the recognized workforce servant leader in our region, is continuing to provide significant economic drivers through programs like JOBS = PAYCHECKS NOW.

The initiative, provided though a Workforce Florida, Inc and WORKFORCE plus partnership, incentivizes the creation of new full time positions by reimbursing up to half of an employer’s training costs. All employers are eligible as long as they create full time positions that have not been involved in a recent layoff, provide their new employees with On-The-Job Training (OJT) and register that new position on the state’s free online job board, Employ Florida Marketplace.

The initiative, launched in July, has already served many employers and dozens of job seekers in our area.

“Through Jobs=Paychecks Now, we were able to recruit a top candidate for a new position, and will be compensated for providing training for him to learn new skills at our non-profit agency,” Cheryl Phoenix, Executive Director for America’s Second harvest of the Big Bend said.  “We are all working to provide more services on a limited budget, and this program helps employers as well as employees who have been affected by the economy.”
