Dear Chamber Members:

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2012 Wakulla County Chamber Business Excellence Awards.

This program is designed to recognize a Chamber Business of the Year, a Chamber Start-up Business of the Year, a Chamber Non-Profit Organization of the Year, a Chamber Environmental Stewardship Business of the Year, and new this year, a Chamber Member of the Year.

Nominations for the awards are limited to Chamber members in good standing as of December 31, 2011, and may only be submitted by our membership.

These awards recognize Chamber members of one business, one start-up business, one non-profit organization, and one Chamber member of the year, for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the community.  Judging criteria include the quality of customer/client service and goods provided, and the effort to benefit our community.

The Environmental Stewardship Award will be given to the Chamber member that owns and/or operates a business, organization, or a residential development that promotes responsible environmental preservation through helping to protect our county’s natural resources; striving to better understand our environment; and demonstrating appreciation for our sensitive coastline.  Judging criteria include:  uses environmentally sensitive practices in the everyday operation of the business; limits use of chemicals or pesticides; uses alternative energy sources; educates the public regarding the environmental and economic impacts of environmental stewardship; supports groundwater protection; or demonstrates other identifiable environmental stewardship efforts.

A banquet honoring the winners will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Wakulla County Senior Center.  Your invitation and more details about the event will follow.

All nominations must be received by Friday, March 16, 2012.  Submit nominations to the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce, Post Office Box 598, Crawfordville, FL 32326, by FAX to (850) 926-2050, or by e-mail to wakullacochamber@embarqmail.com.

Important Note:  The following restrictions apply: 

1).  Chamber members whose membership status is “Individual” may only be nominated for the Chamber Member of the Year. 

2).  Previous winners for 2010 and 2011 may not be nominated for a period of two years.
