David Pleat is Independent Thinker

Letters-EditorDear Wakulla.com Readers:

I am writing to state my support for David Pleat for State House District 7.

Unlike incumbent Marti Coley, he is an independent thinker who will represent our district well. Representative Coley has too often voted with her party and against the needs of our district - one easy example is her support of offshore oil drilling – something every coastal chamber of commerce in our district took a stand against.

When the Governor called the special session on oil last week Rep. Coley did not take the opportunity to try to end party politics and help us, her constituents. Instead she chose to vote to end the session. She could have taken that moment to lead the House in an effort to help panhandle citizens – not necessarily supporting the constitutional amendment (which she stated she supported), but to do something. She chose inaction and apathy over action and leadership. That was the final straw for me.

David Pleat is an attorney in Destin who understand the law and what it means to run a small business. He is committed to protecting our environment and working for the people, not a political party. We need to send Tallahassee a message – we are tired of politics as usual – we need to vote for David Pleat for the State House.

Sincerely,

Alan Brock
Wakulla County Commissioner
