Wakulla High March War Eagle Band Ready for 2007-08
The Wakulla High School Marching War Eagle Band is gearing up for an exciting season! The director of bands, currently in her sixth year, is Mrs. Becky Carlan. The band has added several notable teachers to its staff. Returning is our Percussion sponsor of three years, Mr. Michael Panzarino. Mike is an alumnus of Wakulla High and a current Music Education major at Florida State University. Added to the staff this year is Wakulla High School teacher and director of the Florida State University Marching Chiefs colorguard, Ms. Teena Ketchum and current director of the Shadeville Warriorette baton program Mrs. Kathy Pandolfi. Both Ms. Ketchum and Mrs. Pandolfi will be working with the War Eagle Band Colorguard.
{sidebar id=1}The band finished its annual Band camp and "Meet the Band Night" which took place from July 23-27. They have also begun their regular season twice-weekly rehearsals consisting of field rehearsals and sectional rehearsals. The student work ethic and motivation has never been higher!
This year we celebrate with a "Tribute to Our New Red, White, and Blue"! The band is sporting new uniforms for the first time in 12 seasons!
The "Tribute to Our New Red, White, and Blue" will feature the Grand Funk Railroad hit "We're an American Band", an American composers medley of "Hoe Down" from the Ballet "Rodeo" by Aaron Copland and "Mambo" from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein, and will close with a moving "Salute to Freedom" medley. We have plenty of surprises in store for our celebratory halftime show, so don't miss a single game! We open at Reynolds Field on Friday, August 31 at halftime of course. Go Eagles!
