WHS Teacher and Students Donate Over 100 Towels to the Animal Shelter
Krista Millender, a teacher at Wakulla High School, read in the newspaper that the animal shelter needed towels to provide warmth for the animals during the cold season. She provided her students with a chance to help out by bringing in old or new towels to donate to the shelter. She called this drive “Comfort for Critters.”
“It just hurt my heart to think of those animals without warmth or comfort,” says Millender.
She and her students decided they could do something about it. Her students donated over one hundred towels to the animal shelter, half of which she has already delivered and the other half she will be delivering this week.
“I know the towels will not make up for the companionship and love they desperately need in a home of their own, but at least we are being proactive and taking care of animals that can’t take care of themselves,” said Millender.
She also took the opportunity to tell the students to make sure they spay or neuter their pet and to use their efforts to do other things like this to make a difference in their community.
