Locklyn Tucker and Cory Eddinger Crowned 2008 Prom Queen and King
The limos, the gowns, the glamour! Was it the Oscars? No, it was the 2008 Wakulla High School Prom, held this past Friday night, May 9, at the University Center Club at Florida State University. This year's theme was "One Last Kiss," and once again, the Junior Class outdid themselves with the decorations. The ballroom was transformed into a glamorous red, black and white setting, with red bows tied to each chair and twinkling white lights everywhere. Blues, corals, pinks, yellows, white and red seemed to be the colors of choice for this year's gowns, and several guys sported top hats and canes.
Couples and groups of students danced, mingled, and snacked on chocolate fondue throughout the evening. The official program began with a welcome from Junior Class President Kimberly Franklin, and a special acknowledgement from Junior Class Sponsor Bob Blanton. During his career at Wakulla High School, Blanton has sponsored 31 proms. It was an emotional moment for the Honors Biology teacher, as he announced that he will be retiring from teaching at the end of this school year. He gave a special thanks to his wife Carol, and presented her with a kiss and a bouquet of flowers on stage.
Next, the Junior Class officers introduced the Prom Court to the waiting crowd. The 2008 candidates for Prom King were Nick Baxter, Stuart Brimner, Reggie Coles, Tim Colman, Cory Eddinger, Tyrell Gavin, Cameron Graves, Cedric "C.J." Holton, Evan Nazworth, and Brandon Willingham. The 2008 Queen candidates were Katherine Allen, Hannah Battle, Sara Daw, Kiara Gay, Chelsea Schlegel, Karlyn Scott, Locklyn Tucker, Jessica "J.V." Varner, Kaylyn Williams, and Ginny Weiss.

Junior Class Welcome to the Seniors: "We would like to welcome each and every one of you to the 2008 Prom of Wakulla High School. This is a very special evening for all of us since it will be the last night together before graduation sends us on our separate ways. We would like to thank the administration, faculty and staff for all the things they have done for us. Enjoy! Bless you!"
Poem to the Seniors (included in the Prom booklet):
"Memories"
It's here at last, this night of nights,
Sweet music, dancing, soft dimmed lights.
So laugh and sing and dance away.
Recall, remember our past school days.
We celebrate our high school years
And the time we shared,
Our joys, our fears, our fervent hopes.
This night together is our last.
Farewell to you,
Dear Senior Class.
