Spring is in the air at Medart Elementary! We are down to the last month of school, and with it comes opportunities for the Mustangs to boldly adventure outside the corral on fieldtrips and excursions which are not only fun, but greatly enhance the knowledge gained by our little foals.
Our second graders enjoyed a trip to the Jacksonville Zoo on March 31st. They had a great time seeing all of those animals. Many thanks go out to the chaperones and students for making this such a wonderful experience.
Our third and fourth graders enjoyed a trip to the Mary Brogan Museum in Tallahassee on April 14th and April 20th. They had a great time enjoying all the fun and interesting things this museum has to offer.

Our fifth graders are getting ready for their end-of-the-year celebration at Wild Adventures in Valdosta on April 27th. Student Council, Orff Band, and the Art Club are eagerly anticipating their trip to Silver Springs in Ocala on May 2nd.

Additionally, Mrs. McElroy, Mrs. Mohr, and Mrs. Hoover took their classes to Earth Day at the Capitol on April 19th. Students came back with free t-shirts, Dogwood Trees, and a lot of other free materials. The students said they had a great time learning how to do a better job of taking care of the earth.
Medart students, faculty, staff, and parents had a great time in April gearing up for the Relay for Life, held at the WHS track on April 21st and 22nd. A big thank you goes out to all of you in our community who, again, made this event a huge success. The school’s Relay for Life Parade was a success, with chair person Charlotte Hoover serving as Grand Marshall and Jennifer Anderson’s fourth grade class winning the float competition. The Kiss the Pig contest is drawing to a close, but the “winner” was not announced as of press time.

Medart has added another Maverick to their school family. Maverick Lee Stubbs made his grand entrance on March 15th weighing in at 6 lbs., 13 ozs. and measuring 20 ¼ inches long. The proud parents are second grade teacher Jessica Stubbs and her husband Steven.
Our science fair was a success with over 120 entries. Fourth grade winners were: 1st place, Madison Harris, 2nd place, DeAndra Randle, and 3rd place Ramsey Lynn. All of these students are in Beth Brown’s class. Fifth Grade winners were: 1st place Danielle Gray, 2nd place, Sarah Hamel, and 3rd place Natalie Crum. Danielle and Natalie are in Charlotte Hoover’s class and Sarah is in Russell Herron’s class.
The Brain Bowl Event was enjoyed by our fourth and fifth grade students. Fifth graders on Team A were: Chelsea Carroll, Hunter McKaye, Will Walker (Top Scorer on this team), Savanna Harris, and Sarah Hamel. Fifth Graders making up Team B were Alexander Lewis, Hannah Taylor, Natalie Crum, Kane Gaby (Top scorer on this team and Overall Top Scorer), and Sarah Blake Roberts. Team A won first place.
Once again Medart’s “Spring Festival” was a huge success as teachers, parents, students and the community joined together at the Medart corral for food and fun. As a result, more than $20,000 was raised from this BIG EVENT to benefit the little mustangs at Medart.
