Thanksgiving - Thanksgiving
We have much to be thankful for
around Shadeville Elementary this year! Once again our Fall Festival was a huge
success thanks to the helping hands of our PTO members, school volunteers,
school board members, community, and the faculty and staff. Smiles abounded
throughout the festival on the faces of the big and the small. Families from
all around our community took part in this year’s festival’s fun. The
festival’s profits will be used to provide our students with additional playground
equipment, library books, additional art supplies, Project Learning Tree
activities, and classroom enhancements. THANK YOU for your support!
We are thankful to live in an area
rich in opportunities for our students to learn about their world. Shadeville’s
fourth graders will be visiting the Marianna Caverns this month to get a better
understanding of the earth and its environment. The second grade children will
be visiting Bear Creek Educational
Center to enrich their
understanding of the environment. Our second and fourth grade students will
also have the opportunity to understand the creatures of the sea when “See to
Sea” a program offered through Florida
State University,
visits the school. Students in third grade will be visiting St. Marks Wildlife
Refuge and all of the natural wonders
available there for exploration. Soon our fifth graders will be visiting
Mission San Luis to enhance their understanding of this area’s history. Sounds
like we’re going to be busy this month.
Many thanks to Sergeant Sanders, Shadeville’s
School Resource Officer, for providing our students with lessons on drug and
violence prevention through the SAVE program. Recently, our fifth grade
students enjoyed a visit from the Deputy Matt Helms and his dog Cowboy as part of
the program. Parents will get the opportunity to see their children recognized at the annual SAVE graduation on November 17th.
Congratulations
to the fourth and fifth grade students who were chosen to be a part of the
Shadeville ORFF Band. Under the direction of Mrs. Connie Cooper, Shadeville’s
music teacher, the musicians performed at the Fall Festival to the delight of
all and will perform again at the school’s February PTO meeting.
We are
thankful around our school for wonderful para-professionals like Mrs. Nan Lucas
who was selected as the October Wakulla County Employee of the Month. Nan works with our first grade teachers to provide
additional instruction to many of our young students just learning to read. She
is an integral part of our school’s team. She is often the first one to offer a
great suggestion or a helping hand. CONGRATULATIONS!
The
Shadeville School Family wishes all in our community a very restful and
wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday.
