Large Crowd Turns Out for
Medart Elementary Spring Carnival

The Medart Elementary School Mustangs held their annual Spring Carnival this past Friday evening, April 28, 2006. The kids had a blast playing games, eating popcorn and snow cones, sliding and bouncing on the inflatables, and climbing the rock wall! They also enjoyed the go-kart races, paint ball, and the always popular cake walk!
Adults visited, ate, played Bingo, and doled out tickets until the sand gnats became too much to handle (which, luckily, was right at closing time!). This year entertainment was provided by local teen duo "Pink Shoelaces", who performed under the trees from 6:00 to 7:00.

"It was another great year for our annual carnival," said Medart Principal Robert Pearce. "I wasn't sure if we would have the turnout we usually do, with Relay for Life being the weekend before, but the residents of Wakulla County showed their generosity once again." Pearce said the carnival raised close to $26,000. All the proceeds will go directly back to the children in the form of new playground equipment, technology, and classroom supplies. "I would like to thank all those who came out for the evening, as well as the Medart faculty, staff, PTO members, parent volunteers, and members of the business community who supported us this year," said Pearce. Pearce also thanked the members of the Wakulla County Lions Club for cooking the hamburgers and hotdogs.
