Riversprings Middle School

holiday-gift-wrapper-249x187Needing Christmas presents wrapped but don't like to wrap or just don't have the time to do it??

The 8th grade art classes at Riversprings Middle School - about 40 students - created, glazed and donated bowls for the Empty Bowls anti-hunger project that was recently held at Hudson Park in Crawfordville.  Below are photos of both groups of students proudly displaying the bowls they made.

canned-food-drive-400Riversprings Middle School Student Council and SWAT recently held a Canned Food Drive at the school.

pic2On October 5, 2012 the new spirit group appropriately named “Spirit Paws” made their debut at the Abilities in the Park picnic celebration in Crawfordville's Hudson Park.

tie-dye-3Riversprings Middle School held two “School Pride Tie-Dye” days on Friday, September 14 and Friday, October 5, 2012.

Next-Victim-Please-1March 15 and 16 the Riversprings Theatre Troupe performed the Soderman/Ferguson play, “Next Victim, Please” directed by Nancy Commander and Mina Sutton.

2012-2-249x187During spring break while most students were playing their X-Box or swimming at the beach, a group of students spent their time reviewing American History.  Eighteen Riversprings Bears went to Washington, D. C. for four jam-packed days!!

team-building-photo3-29x187Students in Mrs. Weber and Mrs. Adams 6th grade reading classes at Riversprings Middle School participated in a LEADERSHIP Training with Lt. Gatchall of the National Guard during the week of Nov. 14 to 18, 2011.

avid-group-at-FAMU-2011Approximately 60 Wakulla County middle school AVID students were guests at Florida A&M University for the Department of Education’s second annual College and Career Day on Wednesday, September 21, 2011.

puppet-show4Friday, May 10th students in Mrs. Adams Reading classes from Riversprings Middle School, put on plays and puppet shows for the K-3 students at Shadeville Elementary.

RMS-Band-competition-2-249The Riversprings Symphonic Band and the Riversprings Middle School Jazz Band, under the direction of Carmen Williams, traveled to Orlando this past weekend to compete in OrlandoFest, a band competition between middle schools and high schools all over the country.

mathcounts-teamFind the base-three equivalent of decimal value 58.  You have 60 seconds to answer, no calculator, and an anxious audience of nearly two-hundred parents, peers, and teachers.  Such were the challenges presented by Florida Engineering Society’s 28th annual MATHCOUNTS competition, held February 19 at the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering in Tallahassee.

rms-speaker-300Students in Mrs. Adams reading classes had the opportunity of learning first hand from Mr. Roger Lewis about his days in WWII.  Mr. Lewis served in both the European and Pacific theatres of the war as a navigator on B19 and B29 bomber planes.

clipart_school_bandThe Riversprings Middle School Bear Band underwent a transformation last year in its grading system and performance level.  By doing so, the students are really benefiting in the class of Instrumental Music Education (Band).
