MAY 2007 |
Dear Fellow Employees,
It’s that time again when all we have done together as a team this year culminates in May with graduations, promotions, celebrations, and awards days. I am especially proud of all the academic scholars who have trained to compete on our Brain Bowl teams, representing Wakulla County schools with pride. It is always enjoyable to watch the fifth grade teams compete with each other at their elementary schools, then watch many of these same students go on to compete when they get to the middle and high school levels against as many as thirty teams from across the Big Bend. The Wakulla High School Brain Bowl team will now go on to participate at the state competition in Orlando. What better way to showcase our academic talent?
Also commendable are the Special Olympic athletes who went to state competition in Tampa at the end of April. We are proud of all of our exceptional children and their teachers and sponsors who participate in this worthwhile endeavor. In addition, many of our art students have their work on display at the Wakulla County Visitor’s Center in Panacea, along with artwork by their talented teachers as well. The grand opening of their exhibit on March 29 was a huge success.
Congratulations to the Wakulla High School Class of 2007 and their top representatives: Valedictorian Cataia Ives, Salutatorian Daniel Miller, and Honor Court Members William Shepard, Lindsey Bolin, Marissa Brown, Mary Jane Tucker, Kelly Resha, Chelsie Scott, Jonathan Johnson, Francis Joseph Yore, John Pope, and Leia Gibbs.
Finally, as I have been visiting the schools, I’ve enjoyed seeing our newest teachers in action and extend my thanks to all their mentors who have nurtured them through the first year of teaching in Wakulla County.
Sincerely,
David Miller, Superintendent
