Crawfordville Elementary School Super Sellers Celebrate Festival Success
The theme for this year's annual Crawfordville Elementary School Spring Festival was Tickets for Technology. Proceeds of $20,000 will help purchase additional ceiling mounted video projectors and EBeams. The EBeams project software and internet based lessons onto a classroom whiteboard enabling interactive instruction.
Principal Tanya English noted, “Students live in a multimedia age. Wakulla County Schools are committed to the challenge of providing equipment/software, training for teachers and the hands on experience for students. The festival provided a way for the community and parents to be involved in the effort through purchasing tickets for donated prizes.”
As a reward for participation, students selling 50+tickets were treated to a Super Seller picnic on Friday, May 2. The students jumped in the bouncy house, rode the super slide, rode bikes/scooters and skateboards, and enjoyed delicious snow cones, hamburgers and hot dogs. Assistant Principal Angie Walker added, “PTO representatives and parent volunteers manned the stations and grill. The weather was perfect and a great time was had by all.” Assistant Principal Kim Dutton applauded Superintendent Miller’s involvement. She said, “Mr. Miller's participation and support in our celebrations gives our students the opportunity to see "the boss of all the schools" having fun, encouraging their success and interacting with them in an informal way.”
To further safety instruction, Crawfordville Elementary School hosted the TMH Neurology Department on Monday May 5th. The Neurology Department provided presentations about the importance of wearing helmets while biking, or skating. The Super Seller picnic was an excellent precursor to this experience as students were required to wear helmets. Teachers took this opportunity to discuss safety rules while biking.
