Wakulla Schools’ Sub-Solutions Training Prepares 40 More Substitute Teachers

apples on treadmill cropped.gifForty individuals attended sub-solutions training at the Wakulla County School District office.  Participants included out of state retired school teachers, college students, individuals seeking part-time work and those who aspire to be school teachers.  The training included classroom management techniques, instructional strategies, the code of ethics, confidentiality, and basic training on being a prepared professional substitute school teacher.

{sidebar id=3}Superintendent David Miller addressed each training session and answered specific questions from a principal and superintendent perspective.  Miller also noted, “Your role is important to the success of our school district.  We appreciate the flexibility, expertise and professionalism each of you brings to our classrooms.”

Bree Lovell shared, “Thank you again for the energy and enthusiasm brought to our training program.”  Cathy Pandolfi added, “I have volunteered in our schools for many years.  But now I am equipped with a plan for subbing.”

Karen Wells, Executive Director of HR, provided the training.  She said, “In today’s schools, we cannot afford to lose instructional momentum, even when a teacher is out sick.  The purpose of the substitute teacher training is to provide tools, resources and tips that set our substitute teachers up for success.”  Additional job opportunities were presented at the training sessions as well, including substitute food service, substitute bus drivers and bus attendants.  For job opportunities, please visit www.wakullaschooldistrict.org .
