Wakulla Schools' Sub-Solutions Training Prepares 50 More Substitute Teachers

Sub-Solutions-2010Fifty individuals attended a recent sub-solutions training at the Wakulla County School District office.

Participants included out-of-state retired school teachers, college students, individuals seeking part-time work and those who aspire to be school teachers.  The training included classroom management techniques, instructional strategies, the code of ethics, confidentiality, and basic training on being a prepared professional substitute school teacher.

Superintendent Miller noted, “The role of substitute school teacher is important to the success of our school district.  We appreciate the flexibility, expertise and professionalism they bring to our classrooms in the absence of the regular teacher.”

Karen Wells, Executive Director of HR, provided the training.  She said, “In today’s schools we cannot afford to lose instructional momentum, even when a teacher is out sick.  The purpose of the substitute teacher training is to provide tools, resources and tips that set our substitute teachers up for success.”  Additional job opportunities were presented at the training sessions as well.
