Wakulla County Schools, Senior Center and Capital Health Plan Partner for Healthy Kids
Capital Health Plan is working with Superintendent of Schools David Miller and Senior Center Director R.H. Carter to bring the children of Wakulla County more physical activity and healthier lifestyle choices.
CHP Champions is a student fitness program taught in after school care for elementary students in grades three, four and five. The after school program is run by the Senior Center on the campuses of all four Wakulla County elementary schools.
Coaches for the activity days are trained by Titus Sports Academy and the fitness program includes 45 minute workouts of warm ups, muscular endurance, coordination games, and speed and agility drills.
“Students are having fun while they are improving their health and fitness,” states Superintendent Miller. “This is a perfect example of how different entities can collaborate when we have the same goal in mind, which is contributing to the wellness of our children.”
