Wakulla County School System Appoints New ESE/Student Services Executive Director

Tanya English, Crawfordville Elementary School principal, appointed as the Executive Director of Exceptional Student Education and Student Services for the Wakulla County School District

tanya english.gifTanya English, Crawfordville Elementary School principal, developed a heart for ESE students when CES became the center for students with profound disabilities.  Her 16 years experience as a school-based administrator made her an ideal candidate and selection for the Executive Director of ESE and Student Services.  Superintendent Miller claims, “Mrs. English is an outstanding school level administrator.  She has honed the skills necessary to be successful at the district level.  We are looking forward to her taking our ESE/Student Services Department to yet another level.”

Tanya English will replace Dr. Irene Savary who is retiring after more than 33 years in education.  Superintendent Miller adds, “Dr. Savary has a reputation state-wide as an excellent ESE Executive Director.  She has been in her current position since 1992.  Her shoes will be difficult to fill because of her vast experience with ESE and Student Services.  The institutional knowledge she has developed over the past 15 years is invaluable.  She will be missed dearly.”

“Attitude is everything!” exclaims Mrs. English.  “I am excited about the opportunity to grow professionally and serve all of our school and students from the district level.  I also look forward to being an involved Crawfordville Elementary School parent of Elizabeth.”

Tanya English earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from FSU.  Prior to serving as a school administrator she taught school for a decade in Florida and Georgia.  Mrs. English has roots deep in the education profession.  Her mother, Jo Ann Council, is a retired school teacher.  She even has a family member who was, as she is, a principal of Crawfordville Elementary School.  Uncle Harold Blanton, recently deceased, served as principal of Crawfordville from 1955-1965.  He then moved as principal at Rickard’s High School and eventually to the Department of Education.
