Superintendent Miller Hits the 2,800 Mark in Total Wakulla Classroom Visits
David Miller has been visiting classrooms since 1995 as Superintendent. Last week he visited 12 classrooms at Shadeville Elementary School bringing the total of Wakulla County Schools classroom visits to over 2,800. “Over and over again I have said, the best part of my week is spending time at the schools observing instructional excellence,” said Superintendent Miller. Superintendent Miller systematically visits classrooms at every school site at least twice a year. Principal Susan Brazier adds, “With the challenges of State level budget cuts, safety issues, assessment and new legislation, it is phenomenal how Mr. Miller is able to keep students and student activities a priority.”
New teacher recruits to Wakulla County are amazed, yet honored to have the Superintendent visit their classroom. Tammi Light, a 4th grade veteran teacher, originally from Pinellas County, is quick to note, “Mr. Miller is not just a figurehead. He is highly visible. He visits our school on a regular basis. We actually see and talk to him at our site, in our classroom.”
“One thing is for sure. We know David Miller cares about the kids and the school system,” 2nd grade teacher Theresa Hernandez shared. “Not only is he in the classrooms, I have seen him at band concerts, school festivals, PTO meetings, ROTC drills and athletic events.”
A 1st grade student said, “It’s fun having Mr. Miller visit. He checks on my work and says nice things.”
